ABOUT APS College of Engineering

The year was 1935. The Indian nation was yet to be born. Ruled by the British regime there was more deprivation than development. While many chose the path of fight to gain political independence, one man with a vision treaded a different path of securing academic independence. Sri N. Ananthachar dared to start a primary school on 15th August 1935, a date Indian destiny chose for its independence, twelve years later. An endowed teacher with a Master's Degree, the founder of APS institutions, initially chose to trade in vegetables in the Basavanagudi region of Bangalore. This enterprising spirit soon won the appreciation of locals and even Dewan of Mysore among other literary stalwarts such as Sri Balasaraswathi, Sri R. Gopala Krishna Iyengar and others. The Director of Public Instruction gave this school its recognition in quick time, in the very next year. Thus was born a great noble educational institution. Today it takes pride in having been the mentor to thousands of academic accomplishments through its various institutions. With a vision to mould the raw youngsters to good citizens and competent professionals who can take up challenges at international level, it continues its service with a clear mission to continuously impart quality education with the help of dedicated faculty. It strives to imbibe technological excellence and social ethics in the students which the founder of the Trust stood for.  Twelve years before the Indian independence, the APS institutions were founded. Eleven years after independence, it forayed into technical education. The Acharya Patashala Polytechnic was founded in 1958 under the 2nd Five Year Plan of the Government of India and the Government of Mysore. Founded at a time when the country was experiencing acute shortage of trained technical men in the field of engineering APSCollege of Engineering started imparting education in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Thus seeds of APS technical education were sown about in Somanahalli in Bangalore South Taluk with the founding of the Polytechnic on a 100 acre plot of which 90 acres were a generous grant by the Government. A seat of excellent technical education, the APS College of Engineering campus was painstakingly developed with the best infrastructure and facilities such as library and sports. APS Educational Trust's commitment to technical education is thus deep and demonstrative. Because of this it has been successful to draw into its fold the cream of students and facility. APSCollege of Engineering  provides uncompromising quality infrastructure. This commitment is reflected in the investment made by the APS College of Engineering  in providing facilities to students in terms of laboratories, equipment, library, books, sports, transportation and everything APS College of Engineering takes to create an excellent environment for learning. On visiting the APS College of Engineering  campus, one is struck by the aesthetic elegance of its buildings, spacious lawns, ubiquitous sports grounds and lush green environment so conducive for teaching-learning process. The APS College of Engineering campus boasts of in-house facilities like state of the art labs, spacious classrooms, hostels for boys, mess with hygienic food, college canteen, table-tennis etc to cater all necessities of the hostlers and the staff. 10 KVA backup UPS for each department ensures uninterrupted power backup for the entire APS College of Engineering campus. Anantha Gnana Gangothri Campus is wide spread over 104 acres, which is currently providing eco friendly environment for APS College of Engineering, APS Polytechnic and APS Rural High School.

The APS College of Engineering campus is sprawled over 104 acres of land in the suburbs of Bangalore. The environment is cool and calming because of the absence of pollution and noisy traffic. Solar lighting systems brighten the rooms of the entire APS College of Engineering campus and serve as the beacon to the hostellers at night time. Seven major blocks comprise the functional blocks of the APS College of Engineering college. One for each department and the rest are occupied by the Canteen, Administrative block and Sports complex. The APS College of Engineering Seminar Hall is equipped with the latest projectors and sound systems and has a seating capacity of about 250. Many presentations and seminars are conducted here. APS College of Engineering seminaral is furnished with the necessary audio visual aids such as LCD projectors, CD ROM, Overhead projectors, Television set, Digital white boards, etc. enabling multimedia presentations. The guest lectures, project presentations, science exhibitions, paper presentations, etc. are held here. Very often the seminar hall hosts placement interviews, where in students from various colleges assemble here to attend these discussions.

The APS College of Engineering college situated 26 Kms from the city is well connected by a fleet of new buses which pick up the students from all major residential areas of the city and drop them back after the College hours. The APS College of Engineering transport facility is also available to help students participate in various academic events in the city and elsewhere. In addition, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation(BMTC) service and the private buses are available as they play very frequently on the National Highway, with a scheduled stop in front of the APS College of Engineering college.

The APS College of Engineering College Canteen provides healthy and wholesome food to the students at a very affordable cost. The APS College of Engineering canteen has a varied menu that makes anybody hungry. The APS College of Engineering Library block has a rich collection of latest technical editions of over 24,500 volumes and 48 National and International Journals covering every aspect of engineering study from basics to most advanced specialities. Besides, a unique collection of CDs are available for students and researchers. The APS College of Engineering Library & Information Centre also has an Audio-Visual learning facility latest projectors and playback devices. E-Resources: INDSET AICTE Consortium 168 online journals, IEL & DEL. The APS College of Engineering Internet lab has a connectivity of 2Mbps High-speed leased line Internet in an exclusive laboratory with over 30 high-end computers configured to meet the requirements of the day. The peripheral facilities such as input and output devices are attached to these terminals as an extended facility to the APS College of Engineering students. APS College of Engineering Students can connect to the treasure trove of knowledge on the Internet to aid them in the learning process be it for basic learning or research for projects and seminars.

The APS College of Engineering campus has a Hostel for men, which is a home away from home for nearly 150 students hailing from different states all over the country. Adequate liesure is ensured to the hostelites by way of General Library, Entertainment Centre, Indoor and Outdoor Sports facility and even a gymnasium.
