The SJCIT college is situated on Bangalore - Hyderbad National Highway, about 50 Kms from Bangalore City, SJCIT  located about 20 Kms from Bangalore International Airport and about 5Kms from Muddenahalli, the birth place of Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The Famous Hill Resort Nandi Hill is about 15Kms from the SJCIT college. The SJCIT Institute is managed by Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust under the stewardship of His Holiness Sri Balagangdharanatha Swamiji. The Trust runs more than 450 Institutions all over the States of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu & Delhi. SJCIT is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technologiacal University, Belgaum. The SJCIT Institution is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, Accredited by NBA and ISO 9001 : 2000 Certified. Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math, with SJCIT roots firmly embedded in the folds of time (1500 Years), Space on Rocky hill, 63 miles West of Bangalore, the Capital City of Karnataka, has been working towards the betterment of human life and society. Following the 'Guru-Shishya' Parampara, his holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji, 71st in the holy lineage, who ascended the revered seat in 1974. Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust (R.) was founded in the year 1974 under the divine leadership of His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji. More than 475 Educational Institutions with student strength of 92000, inclusive of a Medical College, an Ayurvedic Medical College, 4 Engineering Colleges, 2 Nursing Colleges, 2 Pharmacy Colleges, 4 International Schools, 7 Central Schools, 2 Schools for Blind, 5 Polytechnics and Host of Schools and Pre-University Colleges are run by the Trust. Most of them are situated in the rural parts of Karnataka to provide abundant opportunities to the rural masses of our country. Sri Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji is a guiding spirit for the development of Education and Social activities in Kolar District. Under his guidance, the Trust has established a Engineering college, Polytechnic, Institute of Management Studies (BBM), College of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.), 6 Schools in rural parts of the district and 5 Pre-University Colleges mainly to encourage the rural masses to pursue basic education, particularly in the field of Science.

The SJCIT Library is an Important Learning Resource Center with Open Access system encouraging the user to browse freely in the stock area. The SJCIT library is housed in a spacious block . As on date the center has 56731 volumes of books, Periodicals/magazines, over 463 Intenational Journals and 117 National Journals. The SJCIT library comprises of reference section, Periodical section, stock area , Internet &  SJCIT Digital library. SJCIT  Library also has collection of newspapers, journals back volumes, compitative exam books, GATE question papers and VTU UG/PG previous years question papers and syllabus of all the branches. The SJCIT library provides the information and reference in the academic programs also to current technology and innovations in different fields. There are also a vast array of materials that provides insights and information to enhance overall development and personality.
